Connect an account
Add a Connect PlateHerder button to your app. Users sign in or create an account here, review your requested permissions and return connected. Register your app and exact callback URLs first, then follow the OAuth linking guide. Access uses authorization codes with PKCE, one-hour access tokens and rotating refresh tokens.
Users can disconnect apps at any time. Manual 90-day account tokens remain available for scripts. Keep credentials on your server, out of browser storage and logs.
GET /me returns the connected PlateHerder user ID with plates:read permission.
Read, save and search
Nutrition and portions API v1.1: food matching, per-serving values, user corrections, nutrition filters, components and quota information.
Use /plates for the library, /plates/:id for a plate, and /extracts to start a job. Poll the job, review the draft, then save it explicitly. Read, write and extraction permissions are separate. See the contract for request bodies and errors.
Keep the source
Plates can include creator and video metadata. Preserve source links and attribution; use YouTube embeds for playback. Private playlists and Google credentials are not exposed. Google verification is pending. Connected apps must respect user privacy and applicable source policies; this API is not a public recipe index.
